The city of Watkinsville now has its own commemorative Christmas ornament.

Made by local artist Joe Callaway, the ornament design is a white clay star four inches in diameter with another blue clay piece in the shape of Oconee County attached to the front of the star.

The Watkinsville Trade and Tourism Association commissioned Callaway to design and construct the ornaments. There are only about 20 left of an original run of 125. Those will be numbered, said WTTA President Paul Yabrough, explaining that Callaway is making an additional 50 that will not be numbered.

This story first broke in Loch Lomond Gazette,a neighborhood newsletter run by Oconee County Middle School student grader Peyton Magee.
