When asked about the secret to her longevity, Bogart native Mary Larkey credits her good genes and healthy lifestyle, but it’s scripture that has guided her through 93 years of a happy life.

“To whom much is given, much will be required,” Larkey said, quoting Luke 12:48.

“We’ve been given a lot,” she said. “With what we’ve been given comes a great deal of responsibility.”

Larkey’s advice to young people is to have balance in their life.

“Sometimes, people are looking for fun and material things. Those are part of life, but they don’t contribute to the growth that we are supposed to experience,” she said. “We are supposed to keep growing, aren’t we?”
