Dove Creek Elementary School students and their families brought to life the works of a wide array of artists when their school hosted a virtual fine arts day April 24.

The school’s art teacher, Karen Phillips, explained that the event was part of the school’s ABC countdown where each day corresponded to a letter of the alphabet, like F. Phillips said that the dress-up event was another fun way to engage students after trying virtual field trips and a challenge to create artwork from laundry.

“The idea for recreating famous artworks for Fine Arts Day came from a challenge the Getty Museum made,” Phillips said. “If you Google ‘Getty Museum Challenge,’ you will see many examples of this fun activity.”
