Before moving to Watkinsville, James Carter was embarrassed by the amount of litter around his home in Philomath, Oglethorpe County.

“I thought I would pick up a little, at least beyond my driveway, so that I wouldn’t be embarrassed anymore,” said Carter. “Within a couple months, I really enjoyed doing it. It was something that made me feel good.”

When Carter permanently moved to Watkinsville in March of last year, he began a daily routine of walking between two and four miles along Barnett Shoals Road and Greensboro Highway.
