Sports editor position still open

Melissa Wright, a 2021 graduate of the University of Georgia Grady College of Journalism, has joined The Oconee Enterprise staff as a news reporter.

During all four years of her college career, Wright wrote for The Red and Black student newspaper, where she worked her way up to an editor position. In addition to her writing skills, she excelled in classes such as advanced photojournalism and documentary photojournalism. She also was the community service assistant for the University of Georgia Housing.

Wright comes to The Enterprise from Adoption Discovery in Athens, where she served as graphic designer.

“My hope is that during my time in this position, I can provide a voice to the residents of Oconee County while also providing pertinent and interesting news stories," she said. "Journalism connects us by allowing us to see and empathize with the stories of others.”

In other news, The Enterprise is still taking applications for a sports editor who will cover five high schools. The position demands accuracy, dependability and high ethical standards. The reporter will also write long-form features in our quarterly magazine.

To apply, send a résumé, cover letter and five clips to Editor Michael Prochaska at editor@oconeeenterprise.com.
