The Board of Commissioners last week approved an expansion of Prince Avenue Baptist Church on 60.75 acres along Ruth Jackson Road and U.S. 78.

The church will add a new 16,000-square-foot fellowship hall to be used for meetings, events and banquets. The exterior of the hall will be a combination of wood, stone and metal.

An 8,000-square-foot maintenance shop, which will be prefabricated metal, will be used for storage and maintenance of school buses. Also planned is a 300-square foot pavilion.

Construction will begin in late 2019 and be completed in mid-2020. The estimated value of the proposed buildings at completion is $1.5 million, according to a Planning Department staff report.
