Oconee County High School student Chaim Moore has been named Speaker of the House.

In a simulated representation of the Georgia General Assembly, students from both public high schools took home awards this month for writing and passing legislation.

Among them were student Gov. Haseeb Khalid and Lt. Gov. Evan Frey, both from NOHS, which won best overall delegation.

All of the Georgia Youth Assembly participants also got to hear from government officials including Gov. Brian Kemp, Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, as well as State Reps. Marcus Wiedower and Houston Gaines.
