Oconee County children are invited to the 12th annual Touch A Truck event on Saturday, March 10, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Oconee Heritage Park.

The Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the event, during which children will get to touch and explore trucks of all kinds.

The event is free, but cash-only concessions will be provided by Chick-fil-A Epps Bridge.

Touch-A-Truck boasts dump trucks, fire engines and ambulances, among other transport and emergency response vehicles. Trained operators will be staffing each of the vehicles.

“It’s a hands-on event,” said Miranda Sheridan, Oconee County Parks and Recreation Department youth program coordinator. “The children can get inside the vehicles, they get to honk the air horns and just explore the vehicles that are there.”

Nearly 500 children and their parents attended last year’s event.

“And it grows every year,” said Sheridan.

Community sponsors of the event include Barrett’s Towing, Chick-fil-A Epps Bridge, Wal-Mart Transportation, Space Walk of Clarke-Oconee and The Oconee Enterprise.
