Ryan Rickard—a former North Oconee High School teacher who has been charged with sexual battery against a child under 16 in Oconee County, rape in Walton County and additional sexual assault charges in Morgan County—pleaded not guilty July 29 to the charges here in Oconee.
Rickard is accused of engaging in a two-year sexual relationship with a NOHS student from June 1, 2011 and Aug. 1, 2013. Rickard taught graphic design and coached baseball and football in Oconee County until 2014 when he became an assistant principal at Morgan County High School. An open records request for Rickard’s OCS personnel file revealed only positive assessments.
He resigned in early 2018 following a federal investigation into attempted viewing of child pornography and for a short time, sold real estate in Oconee County.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation believes that there may be additional victims in the case.
