Hundreds of students packed Oconee County High School’s main gymnasium and cheered as

Nikyta Belser was named Teacher of the Year.

Belser was given a couple of props to wear. She was crowned with a faux golden crown and was also given an oversized necklace and a blue cape to show her special status.

As is the high school’s tradition, Belser will be given a drawn portrait of herself next year when the subsequent Teacher of the Year is announced.

Belser teaches marketing courses within the CTAE department of Oconee County High School. She is also the advisor for the school’s marketing club, Distributive Education Clubs of America.

She started teaching at OCHS in 2015 after having taught in Newton and Morgan counties. This school year will be her fifth teaching in Oconee County.
