The Board of Commissioners voted to purchase 7.63 acres across from Watkinsville’s Fire Station 1 for the construction of a new administrative building following their executive session on Tuesday.

The county will buy the property from Jacobs Properties LLLP of North Augusta, South Carolina for $650,000.

The funding will come from the 2004 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax reserves. The land, which is bordered by Veterans Memorial Parkway (U.S. 441) and Macon Highway, was last assessed at $227,518, according to the Oconee County Property Appraisal Office.
