A mixed-used commercial and residential development will replace the defunct pipe plant at 1180 Greensboro Highway.

At the December Watkinsville City Council meeting, Abe Abouhamdanof ABE Consulting was granted a demolition permit on behalf of his client, Athens Construction Group, which purchased the 17-acre property in June, 2019, for $1.43 million from Smith Setzer & Sons of Georgia. 

The plant has not been operational for most of the 2010s, and its former owners were issued code violation warnings from former Code Enforcement Officer Steve Davis.
