A dashing wardrobe, a riveting story and 26 letters on a keyboard—these are the simple pleasures that enrich a journalist’s life at the age of 99. 

On her 99th birthday Tuesday, Williams was greeted with great fanfare from local dignitaries and fellow journalists. The woman of the hour—Madame muckraker Vivian Williams, born July 16, 1920—sported a handcrafted button announcing her impressive longevity.
