Oconee County Sheriff Scott Berry and dozens of other sheriffs from around the country met with President Donald Trump at the nation’s capital late last month to discuss border security.

Trump was presented with a plaque of appreciation for his leadership on immigration and border security.

This ceremony was one of the highlights for Berry during his three-day conference.

“I appreciate the president being willing to listen to people that actually do the work on the ground,” Berry said. “He seems committed to listening to law enforcement. He’s the first president in my lifetime that’s vocally supported law enforcement, and I was honored to be invited to go.”

Berry was also able to meet political officials other than the president, such as U.S. Sen. David Perdue, Kellyanne Conway and several presidential advisors.
