About 92 percent of public school students will not be impacted by a tentative redistricting plan necessitated by the construction of Dove Creek Middle School, which will be open for the 2023-2024 school year.

For the 8 percent who are affected, there will be a listening session Tuesday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. at North Oconee High School.

School choice, in which families can choose their preferred school regardless of the attendance zoning map, will be available for all students. However, if a student attends a school outside of his or her zone, bus transportation will not be provided. The attendance zones of Oconee County High School and North Oconee High School remain the same. Also unchanged are Rocky Branch Elementary, Colham Ferry Elementary and Oconee County Middle schools

Chief Human Resources Officer Brook Whitmire said no neighborhoods will be split.
