At the STAR student and teacher breakfast last week, North Oconee High School social studies instructor Richard Rosch said his greatest goal as an educator is to train the next generation of leaders.

“If [NOHS senior David Han] is any representation of what’s to come, then we’re all in very good hands,” Rosch said.

Han was named Oconee County’s STAR student at the breakfast, which was hosted by High Shoals Health and Rehabilitation and organized by the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce. STAR is an acronym for Student Teacher Achievement Recognition.

The following students and teachers were recognized from their respective schools:

  • Oconee County High School senior David Burke and math teacher Jacob Forrester.
  • Athens Academy twin brothers Elliot and Logan Williamson and Spanish teacher Marielle Newland and English teacher Gabriel Lovatt, respectively.
  • Westminster Christian Academy senior Lexi Farr and science teacher Carrie Herring.
  • Prince Avenue Christian School senior Jared Deatrick and science teacher Dale Autry.
