A Thursday, Aug. 1 Board of Commissioners Town Hall will center on roundabouts. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the Oconee County Civic Center at 2661 Hog Mountain Road.
Town Hall meetings provide an opportunity for citizens to meet with commissioners and voice their comments, concerns and questions.
In June, the BOC voted to spend $1.25 million on a roundabout at the intersection of Mars Hill and Malcom Bridge roads with construction to begin later in the summer.
The developer of the forthcoming shopping center, The Village at Malcom Bridge, will construct a roundabout at the parent entrance of Malcom Bridge Middle School.
Oconee County intends to re-bid a third roundabout at the bus entrance of the school at a later date.
Throughout the spring, the Board of Education voiced its reluctance on the multiple roundabouts, culminating in its inaction to provide right-of-way for an original proposal.
