The Board of Education has reneged on its tepid willingness to donate right-of-way for the construction of multiple roundabouts in front of Malcom Bridge Middle School.

Oconee County plans to construct traffic circles at the main entrance and bus entrance of MBMS as well as the intersection of Malcom Bridge and Mars Hill roads.

Board of Commissioners Chairman John Daniell said that the county will likely move forward with the project despite the school system’s refusal to grant right-of-way.

However, the roundabout fronting the parent entrance of MBMS would be postponed until the summer of 2020. The BOC will vote on a modified plan at its June 4 meeting.
