Rocky Branch Elementary School teacher Christina Crowe was the first teacher within Oconee County Schools to be recognized as a Teacher of the Year.

Crowe’s surprise turned to joy and gratitude as she received the news and then celebrated with family and colleagues at the elementary school last Thursday.

Crowe is a third grade teacher at Rocky Branch Elementary, and she teaches all subjects, including those promoted by the S.T.E.A.M. initiative, which stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics).

She has worked at the elementary school for five of her total 11 years as a teacher, almost half of her teaching career. She discussed the reasons that she has stayed at Rocky Branch for that amount of time.
