Extra Special People has modified a plan for its Miracle League recreational facilities. It reduced the square footage from 110,000 square feet to 67,000 square feet. The new concept plan places a playground and ball field tailored to special needs children just behind ESP’s headquarters and gym. There is no space for additional parking, but ESP Director Laura Whitaker assured the city council that the nonprofit will oversee a schedule for the facilities so that additional parking will not be needed.

“This community is our heartbeat, and we’ve heard you,” said Whitaker. “This collaborative project is for everyone in the city of Watkinsville—a universal, accessible, state-of-the-art investment that pays loving tribute to the original park in a beautiful setting among the historic trees and serene nature of our town.”
