An Athens man was arrested last Saturday for felony murder more than a year and a half after he was identified as the driver involved in a fatal accident. 

Marcellus Edward-James Epps, 26, was charged with felony homicide by vehicle in first degree, felony homicide by vehicle leaving the scene, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer for a felony and reckless driving and obstruction of law enforcement.

On May 19, 2018, Epps ran away on foot from a fatal crash on Ga. 316 at McNutt Creek Road after being pursued in a high-speed chase by Barrow County law enforcement and Georgia State Patrol.  The person who died in the fatal wreck was the passenger, 27-year-old Levi Cortez Weems.
