NOHS junior Jorgeanna Tardi recorded 12 aces, 59 digs and 11 kills last weekend.

Volleyball has been the light at both ends of the tunnel that comes after each move for North Oconee junior Jorgeanna Tardi.

Growing up in a military family, Tardi has moved around a few times in her life. Tardi was originally from Florida but spent the last few years in Virginia before her aunt took a job at the University of Georgia prompting another move.

The journey from Virginia to Bogart was especially hard after she had grown close with her friends and her teammates.

Tardi admits she’s a reserved personality and leaving the relationships she had built behind was saddening at first.

“It came as a shock,” Tardi said. “It kind of put me in a dark place because I have a few people up there that I’m very close to.”

Volleyball has helped Tardi weave herself into the NOHS community. For Tardi the volleyball court is the best place to start when it comes to building a new group of friends. The Lady Titans have accepted her with open arms and after the first two weeks of school, Tardi is beginning to feel at home.

“I like it here, I like coach Sid (Feldman) and I like the environment that we’ve been set in,” Tardi said.

Tardi has already made an impact on the 2019 Lady Titans. As reserved as she is off the court, Tardi is a ball of positive energy in between the lines. It’s what has helped earn her the respect of her new teammates and coach in the early stages of the 2019 season.

“I completely change when I step on the court,” Tardi said with a laugh. “I turn into this dominant human being that just goes out there and just wants to make everyone feel like one. You may have six players on the court, but you have to be one in order to get the job done. I haven’t known these girls for long, but we have a pretty good bond.”

Her on the court production has been as impactful as her emotional presence. Tardi recorded 11 kills, 12 aces and 59 digs in the East Jackson Tournament on Saturday. Her performance has made Tardi this week’s Oconee Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation/Oconee Enterprise Athlete of the Week.

Oconee Physical Therapy & Sports Rehabilitation/Oconee Enterprise Athlete of the Week is chosen by the sports staff of The Oconee Enterprise. You are welcome to email nominations to by Monday at 10 a.m.
