The Lady Titans are off to a successful campaign so far this season.

North Oconee High School’s girls basketball team held an 8-4 record as competition began this week. They also had a 2-0 mark in region competition.

Thus far into the 2021-22 season, North Oconee’s girls have seen their share of good competition.

They took on Stephens County to open the year on Nov. 20. North Oconee won 51-40.

The Lady Titans took on Athens Academy for their second game. They beat the Lady Spartans 54-31 on Nov. 22.

On the following day, North Oconee scored a 56-40 victory over Clarke Central. That gave the Lady Titans a 3-0 start to the season.

But a game against Fannin County led to a 59-49 loss for North Oconee On Nov. 27.

The Lady Titans responded to their first defeat with a 54-42 win over archrival Oconee County High School on Nov. 30.

To begin December, the Lady Titans topped Monroe Area, 52-49, on Dec. 2. They built another three-game winning streak by defeating Stephens County 51-27 five days later.

On Dec. 10, North Oconee fell to Oconee County 53-44, snapping the winning streak.

The Lady Titans then got two wins in row – and two Region 8-AAAA victories – by beating Madison County (47-40) and Cedar Shoals (62-48).

That streak ended Dec. 21 with a 63-40 loss to Elbert County.

This week, the Lady Titans competed in the Marlin Christmas Classic, held in Panama City Beach, Florida. The event brought in 32 teams from six different states.

Stewarts Creek, a team out of Smyrna, Tennessee, beat North Oconee 69-41 on Monday. Panama City’s Rutherford High School beat the Lady Titans 74-70 on Tuesday.

North Oconee completed the Christmas classic on Wednesday after press time.

Next Tuesday, the Lady Titans are scheduled to return to region action with a game at Flowery Branch. They will travel to Chestatee next Friday.

On Saturday, Jan. 8, North Oconee will host Elbert County before taking on East Hall and Jefferson the following week.
