Lydia’s Place founder, keynote speaker and corporate trainer April Farlow received the 2023 Oconee County Chamber of Commerce Women in Business Diamond Award earlier this month.

The nominees included Kellyn Bowden, Evelyn Shaw Corley, Danielle Grier, Sherie Hawkins, Pam Kennon, Jordan North, Amanda Prochaska, Jen Register, Farrah Sinclair, Jennifer Stimpson and Dee Waddell.

Farlow said she was proud to receive the award, as it meant Lydia’s Place, a nonprofit that provides basic care to adults who aged out of foster care or have housing insecurity, is making a difference.

“It tells me that the community has embraced what we’re doing and the services that we provide,” Farlow said.

Born in Good Hope, Farlow graduated from Georgia College and State University in 2002 and was a corporate trainer for Dale Carnegie Training of Georgia for 18 years, leaving after COVID-19.
