They did it again.

For the second straight season, the Prince Avenue Christian School Wolverines triumphed over Swainsboro in the Class A Division I state championship. The Wolverines have won state championships in three of the last four seasons, prevailing this time by a final score of 49-32 over the Tigers.

Quarterback Aaron Philo was huge for the Wolverines, completing 31 of 40 pass attempts for 320 yards and three touchdowns with one interception, adding 13 carries for 84 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Philo broke the state record for pass-ing yards in a high school football career, surpassing Trevor Lawrence’s mark of 13,902 yards by 20. He also tied K’Hari Lane’s state record for most touchdown passes in a single season with 56.
